Indiana State University’s Permanent Art collection about to Feature at A International Exhibition
An oil painting from Indiana State University’s Permanent Art collection is about to go at an international historical exhibition in Belgium. This is certainly a good news for Indiana State University.
“Smoke Stacks” is the name of the oil painting painted by Joseph Stella in 1935. It is an industrial painting. He was an American artist. Many people tend to see the painting as an indication of pollution all over the world, but Racker, curator of the university, thinks differently. He feels it as a progress of human kind.
John Murray, Dean, is very excited about the transaction to Belgium. He believes in this way this paining will get more popularity and it also increase the accessibility of people to the university’s art collection. Previously, in 1994, “Smoke Stacks” was brought to Whitney Museum of American Art in New York. Certainly, it is a great thing for the Indiana University to get more exposure. It will bring the collections of the university in the lime light.
